As a member of the Schengen Area, Iceland requires Indian passport holders to obtain a Schengen Tourist Visa before travelling for tourism, leisure, sightseeing, or visiting family and friends.
An Iceland Tourist Visa allows travelers to visit Iceland and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
Iceland Tourist Visa Documents Checklist
Applicants are generally required to provide:
- Valid Indian passport with at least 6 months validity from travel date
- Previous passports (if applicable)
- Completed Schengen visa application form
- Recent passport-size photographs as per Schengen specifications
- Cover letter explaining travel purpose
- Confirmed hotel reservations or accommodation proof
- Return flight reservation
- Detailed day-wise travel itinerary
- Travel medical insurance covering a minimum of EUR 30,000 throughout the Schengen Area
- Last 6 months personal bank statements
- Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the last 2-3 years
- Salary slips for the last 3 months (for employed applicants)
- Leave approval letter and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from employer
- Business registration documents for self-employed applicants
- Proof of sufficient financial means
- Aadhaar Card and PAN Card copy
Additional documents may be requested depending on the applicant's travel history, occupation, and personal circumstances.
Processing Time
- Standard Processing Time: Approximately 15 calendar days
- During peak travel seasons: 30 to 45 days may be required
- Additional document verification may increase processing time
Applicants are strongly advised to apply at least 4 to 6 weeks before their planned departure date.
Iceland Visa Fees
Embassy Visa Fee
- Adults (12 years and above): EUR 90
- Children aged 6 to 11 years: EUR 45
- Children below 6 years: Free
VFS Service Fee
- Approximately INR 2,100 to INR 2,500 per application
- Optional services such as courier return, SMS alerts, premium lounge, photocopying, and form filling assistance are charged separately.
Visa fees are non-refundable irrespective of the visa decision.
