Malta Tourist Visa for Indian Citizens

Planning a holiday to Malta? Indian passport holders are required to obtain a Schengen Short-Stay (Type C) Visa before travelling to Malta for tourism. A valid Schengen visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period in Malta and other Schengen member countries.

Documents Checklist

Applicants generally need to submit the following documents:

  • Original passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen Area and issued within the last 10 years
  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • Two recent passport-size photographs as per Schengen specifications
  • Cover letter explaining the purpose of travel
  • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation
  • Hotel reservation or proof of accommodation
  • Detailed day-wise travel itinerary
  • Travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000, valid throughout the Schengen Area
  • Proof of sufficient financial means (latest 3–6 months bank statements)
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR), if applicable
  • Employment proof (leave approval letter, salary slips, employment certificate) or business registration documents
  • Proof of civil status, if applicable
  • Any additional documents requested by the Embassy, Consulate, or Visa Application Centre

Processing Time

  • Standard Processing Time: Approximately 15 calendar days
  • Processing may take up to 45 calendar days if additional verification or documentation is required.
  • Applicants are advised to apply at least 3–4 weeks before their intended travel date.

Visa & VFS Fee

  • Schengen Visa Fee (Adults): EUR 90
  • Children (6–11 years): EUR 45
  • Children below 6 years: No visa fee
  • VFS Global Service Charge: Applicable as per the Malta Visa Application Centre in India.
  • Optional services such as courier, SMS updates, and premium lounge are available at additional charges.
