Switzerland Tourist Visa for Indian Passport Holders

Planning a trip to Switzerland? Indian passport holders are required to obtain a Schengen Short-Stay (Type C) Sticker Visa before travelling. Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, allowing travellers to visit Switzerland and other Schengen countries for tourism, family visits, or short business stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Applications are submitted through the Embassy of Switzerland and its authorised Visa Application Centre (VFS Global India).

Applicants generally need the following documents:

  • Valid passport issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months beyond return date
  • Completed Schengen visa application form
  • Two recent passport-size photographs as per Schengen specifications
  • Cover letter explaining purpose of travel
  • Confirmed round-trip flight booking
  • Hotel reservation or invitation letter from host in Switzerland
  • Day-wise travel itinerary
  • Travel medical insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000, valid across the Schengen Area
  • Last 3–6 months bank statements showing sufficient funds
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR) for last 2–3 years
  • Employment proof (leave letter, employment certificate) or business documents
  • Proof of civil status (if applicable)
  • Additional documents may be requested by the Embassy or VFS Global

 


Processing Time

  • Standard processing time is approximately 15–30 calendar days
  • May extend up to 45 calendar days in cases requiring additional verification
  • Applicants are advised to apply at least 4–6 weeks before travel

 


Visa & VFS Fee

  • Visa Type: Schengen Sticker Visa (Type C)
  • Visa Fee (Adults): EUR 90
  • Children (6–12 years): EUR 45
  • Children below 6 years: Free
  • VFS Service Fee: Applicable (approximately INR 1,200–2,500 depending on location and services)
  • Optional premium services (priority slots, courier, lounge, etc.) may incur additional charges
